Some believe that paying taxes is patriotic. Some believe it isn’t. Some believe in bigger government. Others don’t.
For now, lets forget about all of the facets of economics intertwined with patriotism, and focus on civil liberties.
Which party advocates the most civil liberty?
That’s an easy one; Libertarians.
But out of the Republicans and Democrats, which advocates the most civil liberties? They both have taken a chip out of it.
(The Patriot act, gun control, etc.)

I’m moving to Canada
I’ve had enough of the USA. I was happy that Obama became our president but some people are calling Obama a "racist" and are comparing him to Hitler. Americans are so stupid.
Republicans. But barely.
They walk on privacy and states rights
But Demos walk on gun rights, privacy rights, and states rights.
Yes but isn’t the Libertarian belief system fundamentally unsustainable and therefore incompetent by nature? It may sound terrific on the surface until one realizes that it places nearly everyone in a middle aged scenario.
Depends on the candidate. Liberals for individual rights, save some such as guns, and republicans for business’s rights generally.
My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave, I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves, I would do it; and if I could do it by freeing some and leaving others alone, I would also do that.." —Abraham Lincoln…
This shows that his intentions of fighting the South did NOT lie with abolishing slavery, but saving the Union. Even though Lincoln died in April of 1865, the Thirteenth Amendment which abolished slavery was not instituted until eight months later, nearly three years from his "slave freeing" Emancipation Proclamation.
I only support Libertarians, Ron Paul, and candidates that agree the most with the http://www.campaignforliberty.com/
Both parties are pretty much in the same boat if you ask me.
But if i had to choose, I’d say republicans. Just because they consider themselves right wing (more control over your property etc.).

Unfortunately, I think its too close to say which party erodes civil liberties more.
It seems like neither of them care a jack about habeas corpus–the fundamental pillar of individual liberty.

Despite Democrat rhetoric about gay rights, I don’t see DOMA or DADT being repealed and if it does, then their history on gun control washes it away.
