PART 2 of 5: Nutnfancy tackling the often controversial issue of the AK-47 versus AR-15 rifle systems. The bottom line is, a quality example of either gun can serve your law enforcement, military, and “civilian sheepdog” requirements admirably. However many factors and considerations should come into play when selecting your choice. When properly maintained and lubricated, the AR-15 is very reliable contrary to many internet, forum, and magazine myths. However it does not rise to the absolute, carefree ruggedness and reliability of the AK design. Whether packed in mud, neglected for cleaning, or just plain thrashed upon, the AK shrugs it all off and continues to shuck rounds with pleasing and life-saving regularity. It is better than the AR-15 system in that regard. It also features a lightning quick and easy fieldstrip. However the AK design has many flaws which include: poorer ergonomics (like its munchkin length of pull), shorter sight radius and inferior sights, heavier magazines and ammunition, difficulty in mounting optics (less variety in application too), slower operational controls, and more recoil. But many accept these shortcomings to gain the increase in stopping power of the larger .30 caliber round. As shown in the video, this 7.62x39mm round pretty much dies after 300 yards but within its range, it hits hard and defeats obstacles much better than the smaller 5.56x45mm offering. However the AR-15 can easily be had in either a 6.5 SPC or Grendel chambering …

@spetsnazkommando I think the 7.62×39 is perfectly capable of reaching 800m and there is a reason one of the models he has is graduated up to 1km. The problem is that most people that are used to the AR15 design(most american soldiers I guess) will be used to the lower recoil and won’t brace more for the higher recoil, making their shots inconsistent therefore rendering any sighting useless at ranges of more than 600m.
how many guns does ur friend + you have?
u cant get ak-47 in canada
me prodias mostrar la licencia de armas porfavor
@mcshiffern i know right a bunch the kids at my scholl say that the ak 47 is the best gun around, they dont evan know that there are different types of ak’s and when i ask the why there like well ever body knows that it is and cant back it up. im glad some one else sees how call of duty makes every one think they know stuff about guns
@tgace334 hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
@dromemaster7 Funny thing is, to add what you guys are saying. I bet NONE of those kids have fired either guns,
ACTUALLY I found the WOLF BRAND Russsian HOLLOW POINT ROUNDS to be SIGNIFFIGANTLY CHEAPER in BOTH .223 AND 7.62X39…
nuntnfancy u suck ballz u now nothing about guns!
They are both really good guns, however, if I had to be put in a hostile environment where I might now have access to massive amounts of lubrication or repair parts, or a dirty environment then I would have to choose the Kalashnakov. It is an extremely reliable weapon that you can count on firing every time you pull the trigger, no matter what is jammed into it. I would just have the pick the AK, its not very accurate or precise on automatic but I think it would serve well on the modern bttlfld.
@Xp21007 This guy did his research, he is being extremely logical and precise in his findings, he knows more then I do and I have been in the business a long time. I just expect people to go for the bigger bullets (they really like to compensate) rather then the smaller counter parts. Until now I thought the 7.62x29mm was superior in all aspects but its only good out to a limited range and cannot retain as much energy, though I still stand bye it.
@mcshiffern i agree. i dont know how many times people see my mosin nagant and they say ” hey i use that in my game!” yeah thats nice… but i have a real one.
300 yds and over is full power/bolt gun range anyway. Why even compare here. In most situations, the AK is just better.
Why don’t we compare using AKs made in 5.56 (AK101)? If we don’t do it that way, I think the comparison is actually unfair because the AK47 was invented in 1947, while the first AR design was made in the 50s.
that’s true why do you need a rifle with a accuracy more than the 200 metters unlase you’re on the milytari other than that 200 metters what more u can need well if you used for hunting well that wil a diffferent thing lol
@Edgardo323 target shooting??!
@Ojaser6
the date of the weapons system should have nothing in the discussion of which is the better weapon/discussing pros/cons
are you gonna give the ar a handicap because it was developed years later?
NO
ummm ur videos are real good and all but for 124 grain 7.62x39mm ur velocity is a little off most would do 2400 feet/second muzzle velocity, just sayin
oh and i personally consider the 7.62x39mm a 300 meter cartridge not a 200 yard one.
the music in the beginning is hot
Nice review, but my 6.5 Grendel will blow both these rounds out the door, lol.
If your enemy is over 300 yards the AK is nothing more then a paper weight. And believe me with a little practice it’s not that hard to hit a man size target at 400 or 500 yards with a AR on just iron sights.
using a bullet as a pointer: BADASS
I’ll take whichever one is closest the day the world falls apart so never mind bout all this. Well I guess if the world is falling apart I’d grab the AK going by the ‘when will I be able to clean it?’ school of thought. The important point here is why is nobody talking about that sweet little ‘intro’ rif at the beginning and end of Nutn’s videos?! What is that hot little tune called? I really needed that little groove this morning before the range! Mwaha bullet pointers weee!
Putting in too much information will bore us? I’m insulted by that. I am fascinated with military equipment almost as much as I am with amusement rides (for my friends that know me, I *love* roller coasters.) That’s assuming that the majority of your viewers do not have a long enough attention span to actually know about the weapon that they are considering to buy, which frankly one should know as much as possible about something that can make a hole in someone nearly as large as a soccer ball.
