The weakest link in the AR-15′s system is the extractor. It is substantially smaller and weaker than the AK’s. The second weakest is the fire control linkages. These two are not even concerns in the AK-47 design.

that does not look like an ak 47 it looks like mi ak 74 same shit smaller beral and grams in the round ak 74 is a sub not a rifle ak is alot more reliable and the ak has alot more stoping power

im getting an ak-47 soon hopefully in a couple of days.. the ak im getting is almost about 20 years old it was taken from iraq from my dads friends uncle who went on deployment and brought it back

ATTENTION ALL CALL OF DUTY NOOBS WHO KNOW NOTHING ABOUT GUNS WHATSOEVER,= just because an AK has a folding stock, DOESNT MAKE IT A 74!!! you can tell the type by the curve of the mag, this is a 47 i promise

Don’t be alarmed – that sucking sound you hear is the AR…
@frank6920 (as in Colt 6920?). It’s pretty easy to tell that it’s an AK47. All you have to look at is the mag. You don’t have to look at anything else on the rifle. All 47′s have that pronounced curve (banana mag shape). 74′s mags have an almost similar look to that of an AR15/M4 mag. The 74 mag only has a little curve to it. Umm… 74′s are rifles too, not just SBR’s (Short barrel rifle). Any simple google search will reiterate what I just said.

@iknowyounot88 the 74 is smaller and slightly less accurate and is debatebly less effective with a mounted bayonet
@ekt31384 actually my friend has a modified 74 that uses a curved clip and he said it uses the same ammo (im pretty sure they do my self) but i think there is a law against modified SMGs

I think this comparison is too tough, though interesting. The facts and numbers can only say so much. Each rifle has its own unique characteristics, and is very capable in a different way. Personally, I believe whatever the person themselves making the choice between the two, should choose which ever they are most comfortable with, and which ever they train with the best. Either weapon will do the job, the operator himself will make a bigger difference in capability of the weapon.
