I dont know if the velcro straps would really be a con. If you have to reload then unstrapping velcro shouldnt be the sound that gave away your position, ya know?

the US military used to be opposed to velcro, now they are all for it. times have changed. experiment with different types of gear and see what works for you. ALICE is good gear but “i think” MOLLE is even better, but then maybe you feel comfortable with another set-up.
