@JoeDurobot Yes, I’m taking a Bushmaster to the TNP shoot with the Leatherwood CMR and my ACOG as a back up.
@Protoplayer9217 Federal Law is 18 years old for a rifle and 21 for a handgun. Looks like you’re almost there my friend.
@woohog1 Hey Bro~ Yes, that’s the UM-84. I’m taking it to the TNP shoot.
@ChristopherWalkenPUA I’m not a big fan of Wolf in the AR-15 because of the steel cases but the AK and Glocks do well with Wolf…. IMHO
@sootch00 Thanks
My dad had that rifle before California banned it. It was a carry handle style A2. Super old school style! Not mod friendly like a flat top and was heavier than today’s ARs, but has that cool factor to it
@ChristopherWalkenPUA When I 1st got my Bushy, I ran pretty much nothing but Wolf, but it soon started to not cycle correctly. Empty rounds were hanging up in the chamber. Took it to a smith and the only thing he could think of was the steel cases had roughed up the chamber. He polished the chamber and I haven’t had a problem since. Course I don’t run Wolf any more.
I had the misfortune to purchase my Bushy in 2000 when that stupid assault weapons ban was still in effect so it didnt come with a flash suppressor nor could I get an actual collapsable stock. Ive since had a collapsable stock attached a flat upper but its difficult to find a gunsmith around here to get the barrel threaded for a suppressor. But I just about got it just the way I want it, and I love it. Especially since I got a .22 conversion kit. Now I can shoot all day and not break the bank.
Many years ago I picked up a Bushmaster A2 at a gunshow and was unimpressed because It had so much barrel weight until I relized they were putting heavy barrels on nearly all them and not the G.I. profile barrels I think it’s a turnoff to potential customers who think that’s the only way they come. I currently have an m16a1 I built using a nodak lower and a complete m16a1 upper and it’s super light and simply a dream to carry.
@TacticalHistory
How soon? I’ve heard of people who run alot through it without problems, and I’ve heard what you said too. One of the big problems I hear is using steel and brass in the same gun without cleaning it first, since the brass expands into the cruddy area (from the steelcased ammo) and gets stuck where the steel would not. Funny, I’ve heard alot of good from other steelcased like Tula.
nice review. Be safe out there!
That was very informative. Thanks for the buying links.
Love this review, thanks for all the info. BTW what part of Georgia are you located?
hey sootch, what’s the difference between 5.56 nato and .223? i always thought they were the same.
The Bushy’s have good pricing but I’ve got my eye on Colt’s new 6940 carbine. I’ve been very impressed with the accuracy testing of this rifle. NRA testing of this baby shows consistent sub moa groupings and a 7lbs 1oz it is light enough. Plus 1in 7 twist rate allow you to shoot the heavier bullets accurately. I’ve got a Robarm XCR now in heavy configuration with an 18.6 in barrel so I’m looking for something lighter and a little more handy.
Sweat!
I have to agree with you. I own a bushy ORC. I have had for about 3 years. I made several upgrades to it. It is very reliable and the point of aim point impact at distance is amazing. Great vid.
hey, that rifle you are firing at 0:07 and 4:48 and at the end of your vid. what specific model is that?
thanks for any help.
@johnnyray54: I know sootch is busy, getting together those TNP meet-up vids for us! So I’ll just quickly say that the chambers for the two rounds are slightly differently sized. The .223 has a slightly shorter ‘leade’ or throat area, slightly shorter headspace, and the .223 round itself is loaded to lower pressures and velocities than a 5.56 NATO spec-d round. Only thing to really remember is: .223 is safe to shoot in 5.56 weapon, however 5.56 is NOT safe to shoot in .223 chambered weapon
BUSHMASTER is badass thats why im getting one
@sootch00 Actually in some states (such as here in Michigan) an 18 year old can buy a handgun, but only from a private citizen (as per state law). However, you must be 21 to buy ammo and to buy a handgun from an FFL DEALER by federal law. Stupid, I know. Damn politicians.
@Protoplayer9217 why the hell you need a rifle at that age ? i think 18 years so to few to have a permit for a rifle
@capkill2005 Because I like guns… why else?
@Protoplayer9217 imo is very iresponsible to give to a 18yo kid any kind of gun, in europe if you dont have 25 you cant even go to the shooting range, at least is the italian law, dunno other EU countrys
@capkill2005 They give soldiers who are 18 rifles. They give soldiers who are 18 machineguns. They wouldn’t if they didn’t trust them. I’ll be joining either the Army or Marines in 4 months anyway.
And how many times have be bailed out Europe??? 18 is OK with me too… I had weapons from 13 on.
