Concealed and open carry laws I’m informed of, and I know that a state can, if it chooses to, require gun dealers to perform background checks (the National Instant Background Check System, or something along those lines), but I recall reading somewhere that it was ruled unconstitutional for the federal government to require states to mandate these checks. Is that true? If so, in which states do people NOT need to pass a background check to buy at a dealership? Or does other firearms legislation (1934 and 1968, et al) bypass this by making Federal Firearms licenses mandatory and, therefore, enabling back-door blanket background check requirements in all states? Such confusion. x_x

When gun control got stricter, on the state and Federal levels, the murder rate climbed, and stayed up over 9 per 100,000, often going over 10 per 100,000. As gun control was made less strict on the state and Federal levels, starting with the Gun Owners’ Protection Act and the Florida Concealed Carry law, the murder rate has dropped to 5 per 100,000, making it quite obvious that GUN CONTROL KILLS.

So why do the blood thirsty people want to pass laws which have been proven to cost lives?

Pre-gun control in the UK saw rates of .2 per 100,000, and each gun control law was accompanied by an increase in the murder rate.

Why are there people who support laws originally passed to protect the KKK murderers, (forming the very foundation of Jim Crow laws), and which even now cost lives?
New York City has the oldest gun control law on the books, the Sullivan Act, from 1911. The Sullivan Act was passed so that the criminals being run by Tammany Hall political/crime boss Big Tim Sullivan could make crime safer for HIS criminals.

As for a 1911 law causing a decrease in crime, it went up to almost 15 per 100,000, then started dropping almost 80 years after guncontrol was imposed. The New York city murder rate started dropping in 1995, and the stricter amendments to the NYC Sullivan Act were passed in 1998-causing the murder rate to quit dropping for three years.

In 1995, better policing methods were introduced, putting the focus on the criminal instead of the gun.
Tyler, you need to get more current data than 1994.

If something like this happens in Aus., immediately virtually Everyone tries to find ways to tighten gun laws and restrict their access and ability of anyone from obtaining them.
Hence we don’t suffer such occurrences that often in fact they are extremely rare.

if you have your FFL could you be kind enough to explain a few things to me. I am wanting to start off selling online and from my home and eventually buy my own store. I have been reading on a paid website called FFLkit.com but I am still a bit confused on a few things such as, a firearm storage certificate? finger print card? and acquisition & disposition (A&D) reports?
also just out of curiosity what is the general mark up cost on firearms if bought at wholesale?

Ok so if I’m 18 and a friend of mine is 21, can he purchase the pistol from the store, and then sell it to me? I think the law is 21, but I heard something about that only applying to registered dealers or something. I have never been arrested, and my buddy who would purchase the pistol actually works at the sport and goods department in this grocery store and handles the sales of guns. thanks

http://crime.about.com/od/gunlawsbystate/p/gunlaws_ak.htm

ok so it says this:

Handguns

* Permit to purchase handgun? No
* Registration of handguns? No
* Licensing of owners of handguns? No
* Permit to carry handguns? No*

* It is unlawful to sell or transfer a firearm capable of being concealed on one’s person to anyone who has been convicted of a felony or adjudicated a delinquent minor for conduct that would constitute a felony if committed by an adult. It is an affirmative defense that 10 years or more has elapsed since the unconditional discharge on the prior offense.

* It is unlawful to knowingly sell or transfer a firearm to a person whose physical or mental condition is substantially impaired as a result of an intoxicating liquor or drug, or to sell a firearm to a person less than 18.
"Jsatt" – this is from the official gun laws in Alaska – " Registration of handguns? No "

so apparently in my state, registration of a hand gun is not required
