Do you support a gun ban for legal gun owners???
Do you support criminals not getting enough time in prison for having or using a gun in the commission of a crime???

For legal gun owners, no, absolutely not. As for the use of a firearm in the commission of a crime, the law is no where near strict enough. If a weapon was used in the crime, and a person was hurt or killed, the law should be very severe, up to and including the perpetrator dying for their crime.
I support more time.
if they use a gun in a crime thats different
but if they own a gun why would you punish them?
Those are really two very separate issues that cannot be easily answered.
I believe that it is necessary and appropriate to look at our gun laws and make them consistent nationwide. As much as I would love to see gun ownership limited if not done away with, I don’t believe this would would be Constitutional and therefore I don’t believe I could support it.
As to the second question, more difficult. I believe the commission of a violent crime needs to carry a stiff sentence. I don’t think simply having or using a gun is the issue, it is the act of the crime that is the issue. Violence whether full on or simply threatened leaves a mark on the victim. Crime needs to carry stiff penalties as deterrents, we need to get away from the idea that we are going to somehow recover the criminal; we are not in most cases.
Whether one supports a gun ban is irrelevant. The matter is covered by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Besides, anyone stupid enough to push for gun confiscation in the U.S. should have the balls to try and do it himself and face the working end of gun owners’ guns.
Supporting an insufficient prison term for any crime is ridiculous.
