so they support gun control in violation of the 2nd amendment.
Look, I happen to agree that safety is the number 1 priority.
I support both the patriot act and gun control.
The constitution is subject to loose interpretation.
but why do both sides accuse the other of sacrificing freedom for safety………………
when they are guilty of doing it themselves?
edit: Criminals have been caught thousands of times trying to buy guns legally.
Outlawing guns won’t stop them from getting guns entirely, but it would significantly decrease the quantity of criminals getting guns.
and it is much easier to kill someone with a gun than with a knife.
You can shoot someone from a mile away with a gun….
but with a knife, you need to get up close to the victim, in which case the victim might be able to fight back.

Hypocrisy is the rule in Washington, not the exception.
I dislike both the Patriot Act and any effort to subvert our 2nd Amendment rights. Safety should not trump individual rights, ever. Taking away guns won’t make anyone any safer, there are millions of guns out there and they won’t just disappear.
I’ll tell you what — YOU show me the "constitutional right to privacy" that supports abortion rights and THEN we can get into a discussion of broad and narrow defintiions of the Constitution. I can’t find THAT amendment ANYWHERE in the Constitution.
Although I’m no fan of the patriot act — which Obama is STILL keeping active — it’s pretty clear to me that the Constitution has been thrown out YEARS ago by the Supreme Court. They are making it up as they go along and then creating arguments to "justify" their "opinions".
THAT is what being a "activist judge" is all about. I deplore it, but the liberals created this mess and now even THEY have to live with the consequences of federal infringement on states’ rights.
There has been no changes to date with your so called gun control theory. But the patriot act has been law for some time now. i fail to relate to your correlation.
It is not the gun that kills- its the person holding the gun.
To ban guns- will only get the bad guys guns and innocent people no gun and no protection from the bad guy.

When Obama was Illinois senator: A robber broke in a families house in Chicago area in the middle of night- the owner , who had kids, shot the robber – who had a gun. The owner did not re-register the gun- cause in Chicago you have to re-reg.guns like every 8 months!!! They try to make it difficult for people to own guns there. Obama wanted to PROSECUTE the home owner for shooting the BAD GUY with a non-reg. gun!!!! THIS IS TOTALLY TRUE! The NRA said on TV!!!!
I found that story to be VERY Disturbing! If he didn’t have that gun- his family may be dead instead of that thief!
It’s no longer the 18th century and guns are not what they used to be. Banning someone from owning weapons of mass murder is not something I have a problem with.
There is no outright ban on guns. Never even been proposed.
The idea of using the 18th century definition of guns is just plain stupid.
I oppose both, though the Patriots Act worries me the most.

If the Constitution is "Suspended" under Rex84 there will be NO gun owner’s "rights" or any other rights for that matter. If the Patriots Act is continued by the Obama Administration and the Democrat Congress I will lose all faith and trust in our Government. Why is my concern, with varifiable sources is being met with thumbs down?

Let’s try this, Police are regularly accused of shooting "innocent" people. Cops carry guns and technically could shoot anyone for any or no reason. To prevent the possibility of an "innocent" being shot, let’s ban cops. We’ll just fire them all and close down every police department in the country. What do you suppose would happen to the crime rate?
Now consider this, if a crime is committed at your house, how long will it take a policeman to get there? If you take guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens, criminals lose their fear of breaking into your house, or accosting you on the street, because a ban on guns protects the safety and rights of the criminals.
