I want to gain a rifle license (that allows me to use Bruno 452 and M10A2 rifles in particular) in Australia for hunting and range/recreational purposes. What are the requirements to get one and how do you go about getting one?
I am also Firearms qualified in the Australian Air Force Cadets and have been shooting numerous times with them, using Bruno 452 rifles.

OK the best place to start is the Firearms Registry of your particular state. The SSAA (Sporting Shooters Association of Australia) has a page of links, just look up your relevant one here

You should find out that you will need to join the SSAA (they provide the $10 mil of public insurance I think it is!) plus a registered sport shooting club to be eligible for licensing. I’m in NSW so can’t say exactly what goes for other states, but you can shoot here a couple of times on a form which allows an unlicensed person on a range under supervision, after that you must sit for the Longarms test. After passing that, send the qualification + your club membership details + your licence application in and wait. NSW takes about 4-6 weeks to process, after you are notified of success then you go & pick up your photo licence from the motor registry, its very similar to a drivers’ licence.
For those rifles, you’ll be looking at a Category A (rimfire)/B (centrefire) licence, at least in NSW.
I’m presuming you are 18 or over, otherwise you can get a minor’s permit with parental agreement etc. Can’t own your own firearm until 18 though.

Im am not certain, but i believe that you must join a club and be a member for six months or more.
