Reading a article about a pastoor in Kentucky who told his congregation to bring gun to the church to promote safe gun use. heres the article
A pastor in the US state of Kentucky told his flock to bring handguns to church in what he said was an effort to promote safe gun ownership.
Pastor Ken Pagano told parishioners to bring their unloaded guns to New Bethel Church in Louisville for a service celebrating the right to bear arms.
He said he acted after church members voiced fears the Obama administration could tighten gun control laws. When the service began, some 200 people were present, AP news agency said.
"We are wanting to send a message that there are legal, civil, intelligent and law-abiding citizens who also own guns," Mr Pagano told the congregation.
"If it were not for a deep-seated belief in the right to bear arms, this country would not be here today," he said. Ken Pagano, pastor of New Bethel Church in Louisville, Kentucky
The pastor also held a handgun raffle, as well as providing information on gun safety.
"I wish more churches did this, I wish more people did this," the Louisville Courier-Journal quoted one attendee, Doreen Rogers, as saying.
"For some reason, most people think that carrying guns is sinful. It’s not. I think my life is worth protecting."
About 10 members of a private local militia also attended, the Courier-Journal said.
A coalition of religious groups and campaigners held a rival gun-free event at the same time on the other side of Louisville.
"The idea of wearing guns to churches or any sacred space I think many people find deeply troubling," organiser Terry Taylor told AP.
In the US, the right to bear arms is enshrined in the Second Amendment of the US Constitution.
There are thought to be more than 200 million firearms in private hands.
But some gun owners fear that the new administration in the White House could try to challenge or amend some gun ownership laws.
Critics of the laws, meanwhile, link high levels of gun crime with high levels of gun ownership.
does anyone else think gun ownership laws needs to be changed or tightened in the US, do you think the constitution needs to be changed on this matter well since it was written 300 years ago and there was no police or army which there is now?

It’s our right and anyway the bad people and prisoners usually get guns illegally all they are doing is taking guns away from innocent people trying to protect themselves.
Yes. Now, before anyone says anything, on most issues I am quite conservative. But I am completely against gun ownership.
That’s my opinion, and if someone doesn’t like it, oh well.
When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns!
Loosen the gun laws, but impose mandatory stiff sentences with no parole for comission of a crime using a gun. (SC has this)
I don’t think ANYONE should "bear arms," maybe if no one had guns there would be less robbery’s and drivebys, etc. Its way easier to step back and shoot someone than to run up and stab them in a robbery and it wouldn’t be very easy to do a driveby without a gun. America has TOTALLY abused the 2nd Amendment so therefore I believe it should be taken away until they learn how to act, and sorry, that means the good and bad must suffer.
The sale of assualt weapons and ownership should not be available to the public.

We need to loosen up the gun laws. Armed gays don’t get bashed.
Leave the gun laws alone. Do not touch them.
y r u drcting this just t lbgt?
Are you KIDDING me??
The only reason civilians were allowed (and still are) to own guns is so that the big guys and the corporations can have and use massive guns freely without the opposition of the population.
It goes this way… the problem isn’t whether the kid played a violent violent game before shooting his younger brother. The problem is HOW THE HECK DID HE GET A GUN?
But seriously, where there’s guns, there’s blood and death. I see no good reason for someone to have a gun.
HELL NO
I will not tolerate the erosion of our 2nd Amendment rights!
It’s our constitutional duty to protect our right to bear arms.
Guns don’t kill people, people kill people… cliches always get it right.
Dear Bonk,
I think the cops will not be there when YOU need them… The bad guys never act up when there’s one in the room… SOOO you better be ready to defend yourself.
After 12 years with the US Army as an MP, I am qualified with everything from the M-16-A1 to the LAW to a 9mm… From a 1911A2 to a 12 gage to an M-60 machinegun… “GUN CONTROL" is the ability to hit what… Or who… you are aiming at.
IF you can’t defend yourself, do NOT expect me to be there… Or hubby to defend you. Of the 3 murders I have rolled up on in 12 years, ONE was the husband’s doing. And in all 3 we were to late.

I do believe we should think about who we give guns too.Although I don’t believe that we should take away the 2nd amendment(even though I don’t believe in guns)
We should do background checks or SOMETHING so there is less violence.Do they already do background checks though?Im not sure.

I know-I hate the "Am I gayyyy????? questions.
I believe in the second amendment.
I also believe that assault weapons should be banned. And that back ground checks should include information regarding a persons mental status if they have or are being treated for a mental illness. But we all know that anyone that wants a gun can and will get one illegally.
I legally owned a hand gun for years, I was licensed and had taken many safety and shooting classes. I got rid of the gun at my partners request before the birth of our first child.

I’m not gay but I do support the organization PINK PISTOLS, which is the major gay gun owners group.
Some facts need to be stated up front.
First, our courts have ruled multiple times that the police are not obligated to protect individuals. This even applies to police who see crimes happen, they are not legally bound to stop the crime!
Second, those of us who live in rural areas have police response times that often are close to an hour. At one point we waited 45 minutes for the local sheriff to show up to answer an emergency alarm call and all they did was fly over the house with a helicopter, when I stood out in the drive they waved and flew away . . . HOW DID THEY KNOW I WAS EVEN THE HOMEOWNER???
Third, even in suburban and urban areas the response time is typically 5 to 15 minutes. If you think that is quick enough then I’d be happy to beat you with a baseball bat for 5 minutes while we both wait for the police. They are overwhelmed. They cannot be there during your emergency.
Fourth, there have been several credible studies that show that guns are use MORE OFTEN to deter crime than to commit it. Often the armed victim never even has to fire a single shot, just showing the weapon will stop the criminal.
Fifth, rifles of all kinds (including so-called assault weapons) are used in less than 2% of all crimes so they are statistically insignificant in crime data. Further, AR15 rifles are the most popular long arms sold (and have been for several years) making up more than 50% of all long arm sales. They are the most popular sporting arms among civilians. IF they were a problem then we’d see a lot more of them used by criminals but in fact they are becoming a very common HOME DEFENSE gun because they are so easy to use, they have minimal recoil, and the small bullets actually penetrate through LESS wall material than common handgun bullets . . . which makes them safer to use in the home.
i pride myself on being internally consistent with my views and as a person who supports queer liberation/rights and cannabis legalization I could not help but tackle the gun issue from the same point of view. At the end of the day, an intrinsic part of what the USA was founded on was individual rights, and if I want my individual rights defended or protected I should do the same for others. The government cannot tell us what to do in our personal lives, be it the bedroom, the lungs or at the end of my hands.
Also, someday, conservative America is going to get fed up with their dwindling returns and rebel against the progressive population…and guess what…THEY HAVE ALL THE GUNS! As queers we need to arm ourselves and make our own militia to secure OUR place at the table. Impassioned diatribes are no match for a gun barrel between the eyes, ignorant conservatives know this and when push comes to shove, it better not be a bunch of methed out rednecks, armed to the teeth versus a bunch of turtleneck wearing latte sipping urbanite fairy liberals with pepper spray.
I want to see me some drag queens with AK’s, fags with pistols and dykes with bazookas!
in short, NO on gun control and NO on morality control, its the same issue, if you support gay rights you have to support gun rights or you are a hypocrite…in my humble opinion ^_^
