Will someone tell me where I'm mistaken?

Group A: People who go to licensed dealers and gun show and purchase their firearms where they are registered with the federal authorities. They obtain permits to carry concealed firearms after hours of safety training and hundreds of rounds of practice fire and after intense scrutiny into their criminal record. They spend hundreds and even thousands of dollars on high end firearms and ammunition that is held to the highest level of quality and safety control. They spend hundreds of hours and countless rounds of ammunition a year at the range. Some are former law enforcement and military personnel. They are some of the safest firearms operators on the planet. They purchase their weapons for hunting, sport, to exercise their God given right, and to assure the safety and well being of themselves, their loved ones, and their property. What they DO NOT do is perform drive-bys, knock off Seven-Elevens, mug people, and commit murder. For that matter they don’t commit hardly any type of crime because they have to maintain their permits to CCW.

Group B: People who commit murder, perform drive-bys, knock off Seven-Elevens, mug people, and generally have little to no regard for the law. What they DO NOT do is purchase their guns from licensed vendors or register them with law enforcement. They do not purchase high end equipment and ammunition from reputable dealers. They do not obtain legal permits to carry concealed weapons. They do not go through training in weapons use and safety. They do not go through any kind of screening process to weed out criminals (because that’s what they are). They purchase their fireams for any one of the aforementioned reasons

Now, using gun grabber logic, you can stop and prevent Group B from committing all the terrible things they do by taking guns away from Group A.

To acquiring a CCW in Ohio requires an intense background check and a 17 hour training class that covers safe operation, accuracy practice, and the mental preparation to use a firearm in self defense. By the end of the course each participant will fire approximately 200 rounds of ammunition at the range. Please don’t tell me I’m wrong when I clearly have more knowledge on the subject than you.

I think you would agree that a straw buy would fall under the canopy of "illegally purchased". Law abiding citizens tend to do just that; abide by the law.

Aside from the fact that I think you have a myriad of your own issues, I disagree with the idea that you can affect a group of UNLAWFUL people by making new LAWS. The only people that will be affected by NEW gun legislation are people that obey CURRENT gun legislation (i.e. Group A and not Group B).

Where do Britons purchase their hunting equipment and firearms?

Here in Canada, we have large sporting goods stores, and we have numerous gunstores where people can purchase hunting arms such as shotguns and rifles, along with ammunition. Handguns can also be purchased with a license; it is not that difficult to obtain if you do not have a criminal record.

When I go deer, turkey, duck, or elk hunting, I usually have most of my gear already in storage at my house, and if I need to replace something (such as a torn pair of camouflage pants, or a hunting knife), I just drive over to the sporting goods store.

Stores like Canadian Tire also have a good selection of hunting equipment.

Is it mostly the same in the UK? Where do you lot usually purchase your hunting gear? Hunting is very popular across Canada during this time of year, in the fall. Licenses are issued province by province, though.

So for instance if I wish to hunt turkeys in Ontario, I contact the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources instead of the federal government. How does it work in the UK?

Any FFL holders in Iowa who could help me?

I’m looking to buy an RPK from J&G guns online, and so far no place in town that HAS an FFL (scheels, pawn shops) will do business with me on this, since the only place that will, only does it for deer rifles or shotguns. Now i’ve had an SKS before, and have behaved responsibly for many years with firearms, and in fact am currently in paperwork with the BATFE to get a Type 50 explosives manufacturer license (legal hobbyist) and have a spotless criminal record (including driving!) and even coach an after-school program, so between being a good-intentioned guy and having the BATFE already allowed to conduct random visits for my explosives license, i think i can assure you pretty well that you’d be safe selling me a "scary" gun like an RPK. No criminal record of anyone in my household either.

So do you think i could find somebody in Iowa with an FFL who actually WOULD let me pay them a good fee to let me purchase through them, cash up front? How much should i expect to pay them?
Oh and i put this in hunting because i plan on using this for backyard hunting (i live in rural iowa where i have a safe area of privately owned woods to shoot in) as well as the hunting guys always seeming to have better gun answers. Australian Firearms laws?

This question is to gather opinions

First I understand that firearms in wrong hands can be dangerous but I don’t think that people know what has to be done to obtain a firearms permit in Australia.

You have to complete a training course which has both practical and theoretical aspects were the instructor and the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia will judge if you are safe and familiar with the use of a firearm.

Then you need to have someone who has known you for 5 years (and isn’t related) sign pictures of you that state this is a true picture of the applicant.

Then the federal police service will conduct a background check (any criminal record will prevent you from getting a firearms permit).

If you make it through that you get your permit (from start to finish it takes about 6 months to get your license)

To then purchase a firearm you need to get a permit to acquire once you purchase the firearm there is a 28 day waiting period. You also MUST have a secure and lockable gun safe.
You can only purchase bolt action, lever action, single shot variants and break action rifle/shotguns
Unless you have an incredibly difficult to get license you cannot have any semi automatics (Rifle or shotgun) and you cannot have a pump action shotgun.

Now about some misconceptions
“You only need one gun” False firearms are like golf clubs what may work in one particular application doesn’t in another.

“Feral dogs and dingoes should be left alone” now if you don’t like the concept of a dingo being shot think of how dingo’s get there food they chase calves and sheep until they die of terror or exhaustion (I have seen this happen not only didn’t I have a firearm to destroy the dingo we had no way to humanly put the calf down)

“Semi automatics rapidly mow down targets” first a semi auto is ONE shot per each pull of the trigger and it’s not that easy its incredibly difficult to accurately fire and shoot quickly it almost cannot be done.

“Firearms for personnel defence” now no matter what your opinion is if someone was to break in to your home and you had a firearm you end up in more trouble than the criminal its stupid but that’s Australian law. So I agree that there isn’t a need for firearms for self defence in Australia.

Criminals purchase firearms illegally on the black market no matter the laws they WILL always have firearms. Many are imported on illegal vessels etc from over seas.

Now for all those that appose firearms ……… Here’s a question how many have you ever used a firearm because if you haven’t take the opportunity to use one at a range (under supervision of coarse) and you will see for yourself that what I have just said is justifiable. Otherwise you will be like the rest of the fanatical antigun groups with extreme bigotry to something which refuse to understand; or accept.
