Why do Democrats support gun control?

Our founding fathers knew the importance of our right to bear arms, and they put it second only to our freedom of speech in our Bill of Rights.

Gandhi stated: "among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the Act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest"

And guess who else supports gun control? Hitler, Stalin, Pol-Pot, Mao Zedong, Kim Jong Il, Ceaucescu, among many others.

Anyway, I just want to know why Democrats would support gun control.

Democrats, you are open to discuss you logic, because you still have a right to freedom of speech.

Should there be tougher gun laws in the United States?

If so, what kind of laws should be passed? If you don’t think so, why? I’ve recently read there are roughly 80% gun-related deaths in the U.S. and there are rumors that Democrats is going to be tough on guns when Obama take office.

Do you believe gun control, or the government could have stopped the devastating and recent shootings at VT?

As horrific and unforgivable this act of violence this was, gun control comes to play. We live in a time of blame.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-California, issued a statement saying, "I believe this will re-ignite the dormant effort to pass common-sense gun regulations in this nation.”

"The last significant gun control measures to make it through Congress were the Brady bill in 1993 and the assault weapons ban in 1994.

And what happened?

Democrats lost control of Congress for 12 years."

TO the believers of gun control do you really think our government could have prevented this act of violence? And Why?

And if you should say yes, should we also outlaw planes, knives, plant fertilizer containing ammonium nitrate, RDX, mineral oil, and lecithin, and this list goes on for miles.

One bullet usually kills one, two planes kills 2,792 using razorblades from a box cutter.

How do people think gun laws make ANY sense?

I’ve been reading up on gun laws recently and I’m a little confused by some of the nonsensical laws that come into play (usually when democrats take control).

How the heck does having a limit on clip capacity make any sense? Or bans on automatics? Or flash suppressors?

Someone please explain how these type of laws make any sense, as far as I see it, if you ban guns, then only criminals will have guns..
