The NRA and GOP Senators Susan Collins of Maine and Lindsay Graham of South Carolina think so. A new Government Accountability Office report showed that individuals on the terrorist watch list were able to buy firearms and explosives from licensed U.S. dealers 1,119 times over the past six years.

Le Chiffre – that would seem to be an argument against having any laws that prohibit possession of items…that people will break the law anyway, so why have laws at all…drug laws, for example. Now I’m not saying I disagree or agree with that…but that seems awfully extreme….why have new immigration laws? They will break them anyway…etc.
People…this is a legitimate question…I’m not certain how I feel about it. I agree that not all on the watch list are terrorists…and that they are innocent until proven guilty…and that rights should not be taken away without proof. I wonder if you extend the same thought process to Hispanic American’s in AZ and mirandizing American citizens such as the recent Times Square bomber.

I am a Federally licensed gun dealer, with a Class I license (allows the buy and sale of semi-auto and manually chambered firearms) and a CCW which permits me to carry semi auto concealed. Personally, I agree with the regulations as they stand now, in that I agree that while there is a need, and a right, for private citizens and dealers to handle fully automatic weapons and explosives (Class III), I do not think that right should be granted unequivocally. I view it as "a right to have the weapon, but a privilege to be granted the license." As the law is written now, if you are not a felon, do not have a history of mental defect or domestic violence, and are willing to pay the fees and grant the required permission regarding warrant-less search and security, anyone can acquire a Class III and possess fully automatic weapons and explosives.

While I would love to own full autos, and would love even more to sell them, :) I think the line has been drawn in the correct place.

What is your opinion of the delineation of fully automatics and the 2nd Amendment?

I’m looking to buy an RPK from J&G guns online, and so far no place in town that HAS an FFL (scheels, pawn shops) will do business with me on this, since the only place that will, only does it for deer rifles or shotguns. Now i’ve had an SKS before, and have behaved responsibly for many years with firearms, and in fact am currently in paperwork with the BATFE to get a Type 50 explosives manufacturer license (legal hobbyist) and have a spotless criminal record (including driving!) and even coach an after-school program, so between being a good-intentioned guy and having the BATFE already allowed to conduct random visits for my explosives license, i think i can assure you pretty well that you’d be safe selling me a "scary" gun like an RPK. No criminal record of anyone in my household either.

So do you think i could find somebody in Iowa with an FFL who actually WOULD let me pay them a good fee to let me purchase through them, cash up front? How much should i expect to pay them?
Oh and i put this in hunting because i plan on using this for backyard hunting (i live in rural iowa where i have a safe area of privately owned woods to shoot in) as well as the hunting guys always seeming to have better gun answers. You can contact me through email from my profile page if you want.

People on the FBI’S watch list made 1119 purchases of guns, ammo, or explosives from licensed dealers over the last six years is this another example of a bloated bureaucracy failing at their job.~
