Why Americans think that gun control is nonsense?

I certainly believe not.Gun control helps to reduce the crime rates associated with firearms.It’s common sense.Civilian cannot own a firearm unless if the individual him/herself has a very(i mean VERY) solid reason to why they need guns such as a farmers or shepperds to avoid wild animals from ruining their crops or killing their livestocks.They gonna need special license and training according to the type of firearm they want to used.This is how the system works down here in Malaysia.Only a police officer,military personnel on duty,security guard and a some other few government law enforcement agency are allowed how have guns while on duty.They cannot bring back the gun home after they finnish their shift.They must be kept it in a special safety locker.The gun law here is pretty tight actually and the logic that applies here is that any civillian that owns a gun without a license is also a full-time criminals.robbers,drug dealers,smugglers,kidnapers etc.So what do you guys think?

How do you feel about gun control?

My definition of gun control is using both hands and hitting you target. Personally we don’t need any more gun control, we need idiot control. Any firearm in all of their history NEVER killed one single person or animal, the person holding the weapon and squeezing the trigger did. If you want to argue that guns kill ppl, do this, load a gun and place it on your table, it WON’T do anything but sit there. So how do you feel about gun/firearm control? I say there needs to be a lift on the types of weapons one can own and no restrictions like needing a class 3 federal license to own a fully automatic rifle.
Thanks to all that actually answered and understood what I was saying and had a IQ above a 50 as Lone Wolf said, sadly I can only pick one as best answer, I feel that all of the answer are best answers except that Libarya person, who obviously has many issues.
@Libraya, I am a former Correctional Officer, if you don’t know what that is, that’s a person that works in a prison also know as Prison Gaurds, as a C/O I had to unfortunately protect murders that used firearms and other tools like knives, I’d rather those criminals receive the death penalty instead of waste tax payer money to keep them alive.

Why do people always miss the point?

I’m going to use two examples here, one religious and one current. Example 1: Jesus preached that everybody should be accepted, regardless of who they are, what religion they are, or how they act. He taught that people should be themselves, rather than who people want them to be and that they should be loved for it. He taught that everyone should love everyone else, no matter what. He died on the cross to put emphasis on his message. So, why do Christians hate non-christians, why do they all act they same? Why don’t they do as Jesus taught rather than being blinded by the mythology that came 300 years later?

Example 2: Cho Seung-Hui killed and died because of the way society is. He did what he did becuase of the unfariness of the system, because the rich don’t care about the poor, and because those who act differently are alienated and downtrodden. So, why do the fingers point at gun control and mental health? Why don’t we hear what he had to say and adress the same issues he did?
Ran out of characters so i’m going to add this: I know the second part might make me sound like a communist. Well, your wrong. I’m an anarchist and before you tell me that I want chaos and lawlessness you should learn that anarchy is about freedom, not chaos.
Responding to Sat and Imparicail. I personally am a pagan though I do strongly believe in Jesus’ message of love and acceptance.

And, yes, anarchy is about not letting yourself be ruled. Too many people think it’s about spreading chaos, but in essence it’s just wanting to be left to one’s own devices.
I am aware that not ALL christians are the way I portrayed them (and I am also aware that by thinking as such that I am no better, and I never said I was) but the sweeping majority most certainly is. At least, the one’s who make them selves heard are.

I know that what Cho Seung-Hui did was overly violent, and the people he killed (and their families) didn’t/don’t deserve to suffer, but I don’t think Cho was just some wacko who decided to kill people, he did it with a very certain motive.

In response to the question of how anarchy could knock the current system out, well, it can’t, but does that mean I can’t believe in the principles it stands for?

I am aware that there will always be power struggles, it’s human nature, or at least we think it is. But we didn’t have these problems (at least not to the same extent) when we lived in small nomadic tribes. World ending event, anyone? In any case, that’s another issue altogether.

I am well aware that i’m no better than those i’m against.

Avail… you don’t even have to be a citizen to vote. Probably the most amazing, beautiful blessing-to vote, yet any illegal or dead person can cast their ballot…
Do you think the distance of a store to purchase bullets at (Wal Mart ring a bell for one thing) is going to stop someone who is literally insane enough to do that? Distance doesn’t stop evil, it just makes it take a little longer.
That is actually one reason my children won’t go to public school… and that is why I support that teachers should be armed as well-or at least have the option to be.
In spite of my views on gun ownership, I do appreciate all the answers you guys (or girls) are giving…

I take offense at the term. I own a CZ-452 .22 rifle for silhouette shooting. I own a Benjamin 392, 397 (my first gun) and HB 17 for plinking. So I own 3 pellet guns and a .22. I was called a "gun nut" by a neighbor after a pet pot belly pig was shot and killed by a moronic child in the neighborhood. I shoot at targets on my property with my pellet rifles and pistol, legally. I only shoot my .22 at a range. I would never condone the act of shooting another person’s pet. I think the kid should be punished to the limit of the law. It was brought up I shoot in my yard too and the police paid a visit on me to ask a few questions.
Some how the acts of a few stupid people has tarnished all of us. Do you as a gun owner support the right to bear arms to the point of irresponsibility? Is there a point where you draw the line. I do. I know some people out there shoot for the thrill of killing. Not me. I don’t even hunt. How can we expect to keep our right to bear arms if we support absolutely no gun control or responsibility. Responsible gun owners will lose everything because of the few who just can’t do the right thing.

Well its a school project, and im having trouble coming up with good ideas for this one.
Its supposed to be regarding "Justice".
I know people in my class are talking about gun control, and stuff like that.
I was thinking of talking about OJ simpson and how it wasnt justice how he was "innocent" of his first criminal act with the murder.
Do you have any ideas i could start off with?

…but I believe that the change we need is to restore the Constitution, end the war, abolish the Federal Reserve, secure our borders, reduce the size and scope of government, reduce spending, reduce taxes, abolish the Patriot Act, abolish the IRS, get out of the US, stop policing the world, etc.

What is the change Obama wants? More taxes & spending, open borders, amnesty for illegals, more policing of the world, continued policies of Bush (such as the Patriot Act), gun control, socialized medicine?

All the law did was add to the state’s public law enforcement officials do is enforce a federal law. Obama and his idiot followers are saying it is a federal law to be enforced and should not be done by a state. Ok so are Firearms. Federal law says I can own an automatic rifle or suppressed rifle or pistol. Yet, certain cities have taken it upon themselves as well as some states in an attempt to keep you from owning hardly any firearm. Look at the ridiculous laws of Chicago, IL and the state of California. So tell me just exactly how asking a Hispanic person to present a driver’s license (which you can only get if you have a social security card / birth certificate / or pass port with visa. So how is it that I am violating someone’s right by asking them if they are here legally??? Asking if they are here legally means they are here illegally and hence they are illegal and have committed a crime.

Obviously you have not travelled abroad or very little. Every country I have been to required me to keep my passport on me at all times, especially when confronted by the polizei, policia, police or what ever i was questioned by. Second I can ask a mexican to produce a driver’s license and proper documentation. If i see them operating a vehicle and they commit an infraction and they do not have a driver’s license or proper identification i just ask them if they are here illegally. They will say yes cause they know they will not get deported. One reason immigrants need to carry information on them at all times is cause one if they are injured we can notify the proper folks, two if they hit your vehicle with their vehicle yo can get yours fixed, and three some states require its OWN CITIZENS to carry ID ESPECIALLY WHEN OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE. And as for your clueless comment on the law ATF (Alcohol Tobacco and FIREARMS) regulate gun control.
