On the Second Amendment, Don’t Believe Obama

The presidential primary season is finally over, and it is now time for gun owners to take a careful look at just where nominee Barack Obama stands on issues related to the Second Amendment. During the primaries, Obama tried to hide behind vague statements of support for “sportsmen” or unfounded claims of general support for the right to keep and bear arms.

But his real record, based on votes taken, political associations, and long standing positions, shows that Barack Obama is a serious threat to Second Amendment liberties. Don’t listen to his campaign rhetoric! Look instead to what he has said and done during his entire political career.

FACT: Barack Obama opposes four of the five Supreme Court justices who affirmed an individual right to keep and bear arms. He voted against the confirmation of Alito and Roberts and he has stated he would not have appointed Thomas or Scalia.17

H.R. 17 (Bartlett): This bill would reaffirm the right to use firearms for self-defense and for defense of one’s home and family.

H.R. 45 (Rush): This bill would require a license for handguns and semiautomatics, including those currently possessed. The applicant must be thumbprinted and sign a certification that, effectively, the firearm will not be kept in a place where it would be available for the defense of the gun owner’s family. The applicant must also make available ALL of his psychiatric records, pass an exam, and pay a fee of up to . The license may be renewed after five years and may be revoked. Dont be stupid. Any infringment on our constitutional right is a bad thing. not a good thing, and one more thing read the whole bill. WAKE UP AMERICA, this is not right, The Oath our politcians take when they get into office is to DEFEND our rights, not take them away. They cant just change the constitution because they think it is ok. They are traitors. If they take your guns what will they take next. YOU really think they will stop at one of your rights. If you do you are uneducated and you dont understand your rights. Just because I believe that blacks should be slaves doesnt make it right. They deserve to be free because the constitution grants that right. Same with guns. It doesnt matter what the people say, The constitution should not be treated like an old outdated set af rules, it is a living document that should not be infringed on

How did “gun owners” become “gun nuts”?

I take offense at the term. I own a CZ-452 .22 rifle for silhouette shooting. I own a Benjamin 392, 397 (my first gun) and HB 17 for plinking. So I own 3 pellet guns and a .22. I was called a "gun nut" by a neighbor after a pet pot belly pig was shot and killed by a moronic child in the neighborhood. I shoot at targets on my property with my pellet rifles and pistol, legally. I only shoot my .22 at a range. I would never condone the act of shooting another person’s pet. I think the kid should be punished to the limit of the law. It was brought up I shoot in my yard too and the police paid a visit on me to ask a few questions.
Some how the acts of a few stupid people has tarnished all of us. Do you as a gun owner support the right to bear arms to the point of irresponsibility? Is there a point where you draw the line. I do. I know some people out there shoot for the thrill of killing. Not me. I don’t even hunt. How can we expect to keep our right to bear arms if we support absolutely no gun control or responsibility. Responsible gun owners will lose everything because of the few who just can’t do the right thing.

Question about the legal process of buying/owning a rifle?

I’m interested in purchasing a rifle from Armalite that requires a Federal Firearms License – I am not a current gun owner (nor have I ever been, despite spending over 6 years in the Army), and looking over the FFL categories (dealer, manufacturer, importer and collector), I don’t technically fit into any of those, except collector, but the gun I want to purchase does not meet the criteria for being classified as a collectible weapon. (The weapon in question is an M15A4 carbine in .223/5.56mm.) Can anybody detail the process I would have to go through to be able to purchase this weapon from Amralite? Or would it be easier (or cheaper/sensible) to try to procure one from a gun shop? Any help at all in trying to figure this out would be appreciated.
