I’m trying to buy a firearm in Missouri, but federal law requires you to show a government issued ID that proves that you have resided in the state that you’re purchasing a firearm from for at least 30 days. My question is being in the military is there anyway around that because I have an Oklahoma driver’s license with an Oklahoma residence on it? According to law it looks as if I can’t even purchase one in Oklahoma either because I am currently residing here in Missouri. The only thing I can think of is bring some bills with me and maybe a copy of the lease which I’m having trouble finding at the moment. The bills I do have I noticed that it only has my address on the stub that you mail in which I already mailed in my last set of bills, so what do I do? Please help!

Thanks,

Justin
I can’t believe I didn’t think of my LES, but when I checked it just now it’s only showing the address on my most recent one and I think I need one from at least 30 days ago. As for my PCS orders I’ll have to look around for them, but I’m sure I have them some where.

By the way, for whoever asked, I’m a SrA in the USAF here at Whiteman. I don’t think you can check out firearms at our BX, outdoor rec, or our armory or I would of heard of it by now for the 3 years I’ve been here do to all the hunters in my section. Our range is for OFUO I believe some bases have rec ranges. Anyways, thanks everyone for all the good insight. I think I’ll go look for my orders so I can possibly get my handgun tomorrow.
I can’t find my orders, so I’m gonna print my LES from 30 days ago since I noticed it has the zip code that it’s based on at the bottom and hopefully that will work for me. If not, I’ll just go to my MPF this week and hopefully purchase an XDM next weekend if the store still has them.
I went to the store today and I asked them this same question and they said there is a new law that became in effect about a year ago stating that the only way I can buy a firearm here in Missouri is that I have to have a photo ID that matches my current address no matter if I’m military or not to purchase a firearm. But I believe it is only another stupid Missouri law, so I guess I’ll have to drive down to Oklahoma and buy it there.
