If Obama is elected, will he have the power to pass any of these laws?

Please don’t post if you think it’s right or if it’s wrong. I simply want to know, if he likely has the power to do any of these, and if so – which?

1: Ban use of firearms for home defense.
2: Pass Federal laws eliminating your Right-To-Carry.
3: Ban the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns.
4: Close down 90 of the gun shops in America.
5: Ban rifle ammunition commonly used for hunting and sport shooting.
6: Increase federal taxes on guns and ammunition by 500 percent.
7: Restore voting rights for five million criminals including those who have been convicted of using a gun to commit a violent crime.
8: Expand the Clinton semi-auto ban to include millions more firearms.
9: Mandate a government-issued license to purchase a firearm.
10: Appoint judges to the U.S. Supreme Court and Federal judiciary who share his views on the second ammendment.

(I think the NRA published this list?)

Also, by power .. I also meant if he can "talk" congress into passing these laws

After yesterdays school massacre do Americans think there should be stricter gun control laws. I know that there have been many incidents like this in the US and that working class black areas have long been plagued by gun crime. I know that in the US people see it as their constitutional right to bear arms but this was written in the 1700′s and technology has made weapons much more deadly since then. Where I live in Ireland there are problems with gun crime but on nowhere near the same scale as in the US. There is a lot of violent crime involving knives and other weapons here and I know for a fact that if people here had easier access to guns that crime would instantly rocket as criminals would have access to more deadly force. What price are Americans prepared to pay for their right to bear arms as I am aware that at the time of the Vietnam war that more Americans died from guncrime at home than died in Vietnam.

Sorry. Even the federal government can’t say it has made a difference. The Centers for Disease Control did and extensive review of various types of gun control: waiting periods, registration and licensing and bans on certain firearms. It found that th idea that gun control laws have reduced violent crime is simply a myth.

For example, As for the Republic of the Philippines gun control is rather strict also. However, the control of ammunition is even stricter. There they can get a permit to carry a concealed firearm, but they are restricted to the possession of only 50 rounds of ammunition. Ever with such restrictions violent crime in rampant in this country. So you can see, the strict control of firearms and ammunition does not reduce crime.
