I would just like to know if Rifles made prior to the Gun Control Act of 1968, requires registration under state or federal law? I own a Rifle that was made in the 1950′s, without a serial number, and I live in NYC. NYC is pretty restrictive in gun ownership, requiring registration of all rifles and shotguns.

There is no federal registration, despite what the gun nuts say.
In a city or state that requires registration you must register weapons made after 1890 ( actually it might be 1850, the kind that anyone can buy without Fed check from a dealer).
I live in Chicago and had to register a number of Sears, J.C. Higgins and Wards long guns that had no serial numbers back in the 80′s when they started registration.
