Im pretty sure the rifle the fat guy shows at 7.16 is not an M16A1 but in fact a XM16E1 you can tell by the 3 prong flash hider (A1 normally has bird cage), the slab side reciever (M16A1 has a protective rim around the mag release button) and a chromed bolt (generally not used on A1). These guys are meant to be experts i wish they get there facts straight.
on the new AR15 there is a triangular lump on the right side of the receiver behind the dust cove and in front of the assist. what is that lump for????
I think the US in 1957 would have done well to have taken the 5.56mm for its lighter weight and superior controllability when fired automatically but not tried to use an gun that was more fancy that it had to be. Plenty of cheaper, simpler and proven gun designs that could fire the 5.56mm fine in 1957.
m16 has worked. It kept my dad alive in germany and my cousin.

It’s a interesting way to operate the bolt catch at 3:35. I doubt you can fit your fingers through the more modern removable carry handles.

Don’t blame M16 for USA losing Vietnam war. We lost because going into the North to REALLY beat the enemy meant war with China and/or USSR. Once the VC and NVA realized that the American people back home didn’t have the stomach for the war they simply applied enough pressure to keep the body bags heading home. They KNEW we would leave and they COULDN’T leave. It’s not as complicated as some people make it…
It’s good to know that if the USA ever has to go to war with “Watermelonland” we will kick their butts!!
So this vid supports the idea that the M16 is the Smart Man’s rifle, particularly when you get into its specs. Funny that we usually make fun of geeks and nerds.
