@rellik19888 uncleaned for a month? yea, as long as u stretch a condom over it and leave it unused. poor powder? so what should they use? ethanol? powder residule is something that HAPPENS and cannot be prevented. and also, i think u r right, because a gun cant jam after it blew up. try firing 90 rounds a day and keep doing that for a week
@rellik19888 ahh i forgot to say. poor army discipline? well, US troops discipline has gone down like gravity hates them, and will never come back up, since the basic theory of them is to react, instead of waiting for orders.

@Nicholas1350 I suppose you haven’t heard about m16 bullets made by low grade manufacturers in China. They’re common here in Southeast Asia. That’s what I mean with poor gunpowder. Firing 90 rounds a day is such a waste, even jungle operators here never fire their m16′s like that. In the average, they could only spend 30-50 rounds a week. And when they’re on patrol, they couldn’t clean them up to a month yet they work fine. Just my experience with Filipino soldiers.
@Nicholas1350 I’m not talking about the US troops in general. I’m talking about armies who use m16. If m16 is a fucked up weapon, then why do countries like Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand issue m16 to their troops? Take note, these countries have large rainforests. And I currently live in one of these.
@rellik19888, it’s not a, “fucked weapon” but it isn’t perfect. The round is not very strong and not good at penetrating objects. In my experince it’s a pain the ass to clean. It’s one of the dirtiest self loading rifles I’ve ever used. With that said, the only time it’s ever jammed on me was because of the magazines.

@meatwad4900 The real question is why it is the US, which had the more advanced engineering technology, also have to spend years fixing guns that jammed too much and wore out too fast. Australians in Vietnam used the FAL rifle and MAG GPMG and they had no problems. Meanwhile, the M16 is wearing out its magazine springs and the M60 gunner forgot his asbestos glove to change barrels. Why is this happening???
@Stritchers Most likely because the US already has a large inventory of m16 rifles, well into the millions. It would cost a lot to find a new weapon system to replace all those rifles. In time, though, we may find a replacement, but not now. Also the US is still in contract with Colt Defence. Once that contract expires then we may see the US army using different rifles.

@Stritchers Because politicians and generals dont give a fuck about the troops. Its all about money money money. Always is. War is a racket. If we wanted to win it we couldve bombed the north into a smoldering crater. But they dragged the war on and on and on so the defense contractors could make billions and billions of dollars.

M16 costs 5 times as much as an AK and Jams twice as often. But M16 shoots an inch smaller group at 200 meters. All American. Pretty much sums it up…

@randy109 Well, actually the Army still didnt like the rifle, so to make it look bad they didnt issue cleaning kits. So when Cleaning kits were issued and a forward assist was added, It became the best rifle in the world.
