I am thirteen and recently got my first 22. I was wondering what the Florida gun laws were in regards to minors and firearms. I keep a gun lock on it – my parents have the key, although it is in my possession (it’s in my closet). It’s in a locked case with the ammunition stored in a separate and locked area. Also, are there any other things I need to do? Thanks in advance for your answers.
I have done some of my own research of the gun laws prior to this question, but I’m just want to make sure I didn’t miss anything.

Yes, the Child Access Prevention Law applies to Florida. Specifically, the adult owner of the gun can be charged with a felony if the weapon is accessed by a minor who A) commits a crime, B) takes the weapon to a public place, or C) accidentally harms themselves or someone else.
Furthermore, it is illegal for a minor to possess (even in their home) a loaded firearm, unless engaged in a lawful shooting activity. The wording of the law is odd here, but you can basically bet that if you grab your dad’s shotgun to defend yourself or loved ones, you’ll be exempt from this law. If you’re walking around your house all day with a loaded firearm, you could be prosecuted.
If you keep the ammunition out of the weapon, you can handle it all day in your home– according to the letter of the law. The gun lock is unnecessary, although not a bad idea for a non-defensive rifle when it is being stored.
You should Google the gun laws in your new state, as well as checking up on what the NRA website has to say. Florida is reasonably "gun friendly", especially in terms of self defense, but there are some wonky rules that require special attention– this being one of them. If you’re mature enough to be trusted with the safe keeping of the rifle, you’re mature enough to do your own research.
you dont have anything to worry about with laws and getting in trouble just keep it oiled down with gun oil and keep it dry and that is all you need to do with it and it will last forever just take care of it and be safe with it!
im 12 and i have a 17 hmr, .22 lr, 12 gauge, 30-30, so not really anything to worry about
As long as you dont pay attention to the kid with the 12 ga you will be fine. Practice safe and responsible gun ownership now, and pass it down to your children. Sounds like you are doing just fine. As far as Florida? They are one of the most firearms friendly states out there.
Don’t point it at anything or anyone who you don’t want to shoot. You should be okay.
