My brother lives in IL and I live in MN we are currently in IOWA. Can he let me borrow his gun and go shoot it at a range? there is not any kind of registration is there?

There ARE actually rules and regulations..You have to have no felonies or prior convictions with unlawful use of a weapon.It has to be in a proper case when being transported. If it is a handgun then you have to have a permit,If it is going to be carried on you then you have to have a concealed weapons permit.The clip has to be seperate from the weapon, They can NOT be carried together or next to each other, the bullets can not be in the clip,everything has to be kept seperate.You will need to go to a local Sheriffs department to get the permit and it takes about three to four days for the process.There are also transportation laws on the interstates as well.The smartest thing to do is research or call an Iowa DNR to find the specific rules for the county that you will be in.
Yes, you can borrow it. You just proved why gun laws are stupid and a waste. My point is that anyone can borrow a gun to go shooting at a range legally. Not to mention, gun laws only affect law abiding citizens, criminals will break the law and get/use/steal a gun whether there is a law against it or not, therefore proving it to be a waste of time.
