I live in Texas, which is regarded as one of the more lenient states in respect to acquisition of firearms. I’ve been told by dubious sources that carrying a firearm classified as a curio or relic on your person is legal even without a concealed-carry license. Could someone clear this up for me?

Acquisition? Possession? Do you need a permit for a modern-day firearm similar to your antique? If so, ask the office that issue permits for modern-day guns.
In NY you can have a permit to possess or carry a pistol. BUT there are some towns in NY that have laws that are "more strict" than the State law. In those towns you must comply with the town law. They may prohibit possession of firearms in their town.
why not buy a new gun…woah!!!! derka!
Thats not true, you need a permit to pack a pistol of any age. But we can have a gun in our vehicles here in Texas without a permit. That is, unless you are a convicted felon.
For carrying/possessing a concealed gun, the laws are the same, whether it is 100 years old or 1 year old.
