Lots of people seem to be in an uproar that Obama is going to take their guns. He wants to pass legislation to tighten gun control laws to make it harder for criminals and people with mental disease to purchase guns. Such as requirering background checks at gun shows. I want to know if being safe and saving lives and our childrens lives and this country is worth it to people to not be able to purchase guns as easily as in the past?

Gun control laws just hurt the honest citizen. Criminals steal guns or buy them elsewhere. They don’t go through the legal ways of obtaining a gun. Do you honestly think a criminal goes through a background check? This is just another flawed Democrat thinking rhetoric.
I find it funny how places with alot of gun licenses usually have the least crime.
Stricter Gun Controls won’t help stop crime and gangs because criminals and gangs usually get their guns ILLEGALLY from the black market and without a license.

Gun laws only make it harder for law abiding citizen to exercise their constitutional rights. If a criminal wants a gun, he is going to get one, and not from your local gun dealer.
LOL. Your question is apples and oranges. Why do you think we would have a lower crime rate with more gun control? Hasn’t been shown that way in any state in the US with tougher laws. Criminals, are, well, criminals. If they break the law to murder they will get around hand gun laws. Do you think a rapist would go to court and not lie because he could be placed in contempt? Gun control laws are insignificant in stopping crime. People attack the NRA as if they are adding to violence instead of attacking the ACLU for making sure every felon gets his/her 3 strikes and unlimited appeals. Maybe to reduce crime on the streets we should reduce criminals on the street. Go to a gun show and see how it is run before you condemn them. Most gun shows sell nice guns, not saturday night specials. The guns sold there are not your normal "street guns". Murders are not generally committed using expensive, nice guns. They are committed using cheap knockoffs that most gun dealers wouldnt have on their table. These guns are brought in by criminals and sold to criminals. In most states it is illegal for felons to have guns. Enforce that law to the fullest and your crime rate will go down. As far as Obama and the rest of the Dems are concerned; I find it interesting that the patriot act was attacked so fiercely as a breach of personal freedom that people just shouldnt have to give up even for protection of our children yet in the same breath you wish to take away my gun rights for the protection of your children? Not being able to purchase a gun will not make it safer, it will make you vulnerable. Criminals do not buy their guns legally, so they will always have them. It is the law abiding citizens who will be left with no way to defend themselves
Gun Control only affects those who are going to obey them. Criminals are not going to obey even more laws.

All of the gun controls in the world will not keep firearms out of the hands of Criminals, the State of Illinois has some of the strictest even requiring a FOID(firearm owners Identification device), it has not changed anything except to hassle citizens who wish to own a firearm, there are more firearms sold out of the trunk of cars than gun shops in Illinois.!~!
Legalize all drugs, and put them under the same control as cigs, or alcohol. 80% of all crimes are commited because of drug use. Just like the prohibition days, the mafia almost disapeared, but then we made drugs ilegal and we gave them something else to sell.

Gun restriction means more gun crime. Let us do some logic. If I were a criminal and I knew that it was illegal to own a gun as a citizen or that it was illegal to carry a concealed weapon then I would have a huge advantage over people. I could walk into a store or bank with a mask on and rob from them without worry. No one in the store/bank would be able to stop me. Virginia Tech would not have been as bad if those kids had been allowed to carry weapons.
Obama wants to not have the ability to fight the government when it becomes evident to everyone that they are screwing up everyone’s lives except for the elitists that are running the country.
There is a reason why we have the second amendment. Its to protect ourselves from government corruption. People in NH (last name Brown) were convicted of not paying income tax and were willing to fight to preserve their principles. Too bad we don’t have more people like them. Honest people willing to fight with their lives for a cause that is greater than them and for the common good.
Anyways, remember that government creates crime. They made drugs illegal causing violence for the illegal purchase of drugs. This war on drugs has cost too much in death and money. Legalize the durgs and less violence will occur. No more money spent on fighting a war you can’t win, almost like a war on terror.
Obama is an unpatriotic, unconstitutional liar. If he believed in doing this legally he would ask for the constitution to be amended to remove the second amendment and to regulate gun sales. He won’t do it though because he knows what would happen.
We need to enforce the law. Anything Obama says will be twisted by those who would do anything to keep him out of office.
Obama needs to think. If he was white, would blacks be upset if he said the same thing about them.
As a gun owner and hunter I would Not be upset with background checks or controls against criminals and mental patients not having guns. That’s why I never give to the National rifle association.
I am not in favor of Obama…nor the other two candidates, either. None of them are 2nd Amendment friendly.

These are already required of all dealers who sell guns for a living.
There are some 20,000 + gun laws on the books right now: if everyone thought that these laws were important, why are they usually the first charges to be thrown out at arraignment time?
If the people who are criminals purchased their guns legally I would be in favor of stricter gun control legislation. However, criminals DO NOT PURCHASE THEIR WEAPONS LEGALLY. Do you see the difference? You don’t do you?
